Superbowl Commercial - Audi S5

Here's a commercial from Audi for the Superbowl and it's called "Daughter". Not really sure what to make of it. Sources like MotorAuthority are saying Audi is getting political.

In the video description it reads:

Quote:
Progress is in every decision we make, every technology we invent, every vehicle we build. Itís our past, our future, our reason to exist. Audi of America is committed to equal pay for equal work. A 2016 report by the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee found that women were paid 21% less than men on average.
How do you feel about this? Take a scroll through the comments section and see a whole bunch of different takes on it.

One person even commented:
Quote:
Hey Audi, ask bud light how their wage gap commercial worked out for them?

Indeed, much like many other brands and the media they're playing into what's happening on a political level. But that's understandable since there are large concerns on a social level because of that so it should come to no surprise that we see them addressing it here.

Now, if we want to look for selfish reasons Audi could have, maintaining their current buyer base and reaching out to more might be the reason they did this.

I'm sure it was a mix of both to an extent on either side. After all, this is a business, and marketing is marketing. You wouldn't put something out there that could cause a stir and affect you negatively without weighing out the pros and cons as to how it could also benefit you.

Either way, this can't possibly hurt them that much as it's not like they've taken a side on a "major" political issue that would cause huge media buzz like a Wall.

With all the political tension circulating around these days, I'm not sure how to feel about Audi's commercial. I guess they're making a small stand against Trump assuming that progress for everyone includes those who are not U.S. citizens.

they're just blindly following the crowd, but this is to be expected from any big brand
no one wants to share facts that throw the whole "wage gap" issue out the window
